Abstract: Numerous studies in the field of assessing the impact of human factor on the accident rate in oil and gas production facilities show that the effectiveness of performing high risk work is defined not only by the level of professional training, but also by the level of development of professionally important qualities (PIQ) of employees. The development of methods for assessment of profession- nally important qualities of drifters of plots of excavation and extension of mine workings in the process of heavy oil mining based on the case of Oil Mine Directorate „Yareganeft” of OOO „LUKOIL-Komi” will allow to develop unified methodological approaches to assess the readiness of personnel to perform high risk work
