Development of non-destructive testing of mechanical properties of steel structures for continuous operation

Authors: Maxim O. KARPASH graduated from the IFNTUNG (Ivano-Frankovsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas) in 2004; he is Associate Professor of the Department of Technical Diagnostics and Monitoring of the IFNTUNG. He is also Director of the Research Institute of Petroleum Energy and Environment, author of more than 40 scientific papers in the field of non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics. Abstract: The paper presents the results of years of research aimed at developing new non-destructive methods and technical means of controlling the mechanical properties (yield strength, tensile strength, and impact strength) of metal materials for continuous operation. The essence of the methods consists in measurement of standardized physical properties (conductivity, resistivity, etc.) of structural steels, as well as in the principle of operation of appropriate technical means. The results of the work on methodological and information support to define the investigated characteristics of materials and their degradation are presented.
