Industrial simulators to test the skills of blowups identification and elimination during drilling and workover
Drilling and development of hydrocarbon fields

Authors: Vladimir S. KUVYKIN graduated from Gubkin Moscow Institute of Petrochemical and Gas Industry in 1966. He is Ph.D., associate professor of of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer modeling of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. He is supervising the development of the methods of training of oil and gas specialists using computerized technology. He is the developer of simulators for identifying and eliminating blowups, author of over 30 scientific publications, winner of the IM Gubkin prize. E-mail: mgala99@mail.ru
Galina V. MIKHALEVA graduated from Gubkin Moscow Institute of Petrochemical and Gas Industry in 1971. She is Ph.D., senior researcher at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Modeling Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. She is an expert in the field of mathematical modeling of hydrodynamic processes in oil and gas wells, co-author of computer software and hardware and computer simulators for recognition and elimination of blowouts. Abstract: Two industrial simulators on the basis of training wells are considered. The simulators are used to train the staff of workover crews to detect and eliminate blowups. Training tasks are performed by a crew using the operating equipment of real well with additional devices connected to the computer. Both simulators take into account the specific character of the equipment of each well, allow to set a wide range of initial parameters of the equipment and those of well design, and also allow year-round operation. This technology greatly reduces the training time and increases its efficiency.
