Conformity assessment of flush fluid for drilling in argillaceous deposits

Authors: Vladimir I. BALABA was born in 1954, graduated from Moscow Institute of Petrochemical and Gas Industry in 1979. He is Candidate of Technical Sciences, assistant-professor of the Department of Drilling of Oil and Gas Wells at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. Abstract: The mechanism of argillaceous deposits degradation by disperse medium of the flush fluid is presented. The instrumental methods of estimating the stopping power of flush fluids are shown to be based the direct or indirect testing of mechanical properties of argillaceous deposits in contact with the flush fluid. The procedures of estimating the stopping power of flush fluids by studying the structural and deformation behavior, soaking, swelling, watering as well as the set of parameters are described.

Abstract: Given the use of different organizational models for the construction of wells, two levels of wells quality control − the strategic and operational – are identified. Strategic management is carried out by updating quality requirements basing on the analysis of the experience of operating wells. Operational management is the management of a specific drilling system that is drilling of wells in order to achieve design quality indicators. In the case of the general contractor this is the function of drilling contractor, whereas with an integrated contract this is the function of license holder.
