Information-measuring system of operational infrared analysis of the mineral composition of drilling mud
Drilling and development of hydrocarbon fields

Authors: Anatoly S. MOISEENKO was born 1931. In 1956 he graduated from Gubkin Moscow Petroleum Institute, specializing as mining engineer and geophysicist, in 1961 he graduated from National Power Engineering Institute, specializing in Automation and Remote Control. He is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Information Measuring Systems of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. He is author of 111 scientific papers, including 2 monographs, Honored Worker of Science of the Russian Federation. He has prepared six candidates of sciences. Е-mail: asu@gubkin.ru
Victor G. KOMANDROVSKY was born in 1932. Iin 1955 he graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in the specialty of “Electric mathematical machines and devices”. In 1961 he completed a course of studies at the IPMCE graduate school at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Automated Control Systems at the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. He is an expert in the field of certification of information technology and software, author of 128 scientific and educational works, including 47 teaching aids and 68 research papers, 11 authors’ certificates and 2 patents for utility models. Abstract: The approaches to the infrared spectral analysis of mud in the sloughs of clay in the process of well drilling are considered. In one approach infrared analysis is terminated while drilling continues. In other approaches analysis is conducted both under collapsing clay, and shows of different rock. The analysis is carried out without regard to the clay but with definition of rock graduation or, under grades (25–75)% and (10–90)%, penetration is carried out with the analysis of individual minerals and given its past history.

Abstract: Principles of construction of a specialized field infrared equipment designed to determine oil content of the washing fluid in the circulation system of drilled wells are formulated. The method of absorption infrared spectrometry and the method of frustrated total internal reflection (FTIR) for determining oil content in the flow of washing fluid are described. The block diagrams or principles of operation of the developed apparatus are shown. The results of field tests of the equipment on the wells are presented.

Abstract: Problems of interpretation of spectra acoustic signals, registered by multi-element well-bore probes, are considered. Basing on M.A. Bio theory of acoustic waves propagation in saturated porous media, the authors propose an algorithm of calculation to determine physical and mechanic parameters of rocks. The results of pretesting using production data are presented. The presented approach can be adapted for a wide range of tasks of ultrasonic measurements of porous media parameters.
